Shiqian Shen is an attending physician at the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at MGH, and an associate professor at the Harvard Medical School. He is the director for PRIME (pathway to research independence through mentorship and education) track anesthesia residency at MGH and is an NIH-funded researcher studying neuro-immune interactions. His lab focuses on using multi-omics to dissect the temporal and spatial characteristics that are important for chronic pain and for perioperative neurocognitive disorders. His lab takes inspirations from clinical practice and tries to recapitulate some of the clinical observations in animal models for mechanistic insights. He has published 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has multiple NIH grant awards. More recently, he was awarded by the ASA for its 2024 Jame E. Cottrell Presidential Scholar.
