Biography:

Dr CHEE is a Consultant in Anaesthesia focusing on innovative healthcare solutions, transfusion medicine, perioperative echocardiography and hemodynamic monitoring. As one of the pioneers in advancing the role of anaesthesiologists as perioperative physicians in Hong Kong, Dr Chee has initiated transformative endeavours aimed at navigating the intricate landscape of modern healthcare. During her tenure as the Chief of the Anaesthesia Department at Queen Mary Hospital, she spearheaded the integration of Department of Operating Theatre Service and Department of Anaesthesia into one department named as Department of Anaesthesia, Pain, and Perioperative Medicine, marking a significant milestone in perioperative medicine development at this university hospital. Her leadership was instrumental in implementing the Peri-Operative Electronic Management System (POEMS) with integrated risk calculators and establishing Anaesthetist-led clinics, including Anaemia and ECHO Clinics. These innovative initiatives streamlined perioperative patient management, enhanced patient safety, improved workflow efficiency, and consolidated the role of Anaesthesiologists as Perioperative Physicians.
